Genetic tests performed by a research team in Madrid show that man could live up to 125 years of age and cancer-free.

The Spanish research team, who are from the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO), inserted an extra copy of three genes known for longevity and tumor suppression capabilities: telomerase, p53, and p16. The scientists found that not only did the subjects (mice) live 45% longer, but that they were also living tumor-free. On average, mice have lifespan of three years, but the mice involved with the experiments lived up to four-and-a-half years, the human equivalent of 125 years! This story made me think of the ending from “The Green Mile.”
