OMG! “The Hills” Rivals Made Up on Tuesday Night

According to a report from IMDB.com, “The Hills” stars Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag have finally reconciled after accidentally crossing paths at L.A. restaurant Stk on Tuesday night. Producers of the entertainment news show “Extra” are taking credit for finally bringing them back together, but I have to wonder if the producers of “The Hills” were really behind the reconciliation? The show is already so scripted as it is, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was all orchestrated by them.

Kate Middleton Discos the Night Away

Prince William’s on-again-off-again girlfriend, Kate Middleton, roller-skated in a sparkling green halter, yellow hot pants and hot pink leggings for a good cause. She and other volunteers skated at a roller disco in London to raise money for a new surgical ward at the Children’s Hospital in Oxford.

The fundraiser was a personal cause for Middleton, because the new ward will be set up in memory of Thomas Waley-Cohen, her friend from Marlborough College.

A Disney Double Standard? My Opinion

Poor Miley Cyrus. She exposed her bare back in Vanity Fair magazine and her stand as a teenage role model was overtly (and loudly) debated world-wide amidst an unprecedented amount of media attention.

Enter Drake Bell, one of the stars on Disney’s successful tween and teen series, “Drake & Josh.” The series ran from 2004-2007, and Bell has moved onto bigger and better projects, namely the newly released film, “College.” After viewing the trailer, I thought that it looked like another college film that followed in the tradition of “National Lampoon’s Van Wilder” and “National Lampoon’s Animal House.” According to the MPAA description on IMDB.com, it appears that I am right. The MPAA (The Motion Picture Association of America) rated Drake’s film an R for “pervasive crude and sexual content, nudity, language, drug and alcohol abuse.”  Unlike Cyrus, he has not been subjected to any criticism at all.

‘Well,’ you may say, ‘Drake Bell is 22-years-old and ‘Drake & Josh’ is now off the air, so what’s the big deal?’ The big deal is that Bell is currently involved with two “Drake & Josh” specials for Disney: “Drake & Josh in New York!” and “Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh.” Being that he is still associated with Disney and its young audience, how come no one has objected to him being in such an adult film? No one has even batted an eyelash about this. Why isn’t Drake Bell being subjected to the same standards and expectations as Miley Cyrus? They’re both on Disney’s payroll and influence a very young audience with their respective Disney shows.

I am not demonizing Bell for his career choices, because he has to earn a living just like the rest of us. However, I am disappointed that Cyrus was the victim of so much criticism and negative publicity for doing something that (I think) pales in comparison to the content of Bell’s latest film.

New Cast Member for Season 4 of “Real Housewives of Orange County”

As a HUGE fan of Bravo TV’s “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” I was relieved to find out that it IS returning for a fourth season and that a new housewife is joining the cast! As reported by Dallasnews.com, newcomer Gretchen Rossi recently joined the rest of the housewives for dinner in Dallas, TX. I am speculating that Quinn Fry and Tammy Knickerbocker may not be returning to the show this season, as they were not mentioned among those who attended the dinner. Too bad! At least Tammy Barney is returning though!

Update (10/24): This has proven to be a very popular post! So glad that there is such a healthy interest in the show! The fourth season of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” is going to premiere on November 25, and I have posted a picture of the thirty-year-old Rossi below. You can read more at film.com

On August 6th of this year, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton reported that Jenna Jameson was pregnant with her and Tito Ortiz’s first child. It turns out that the report was false up until today. Jenna Jameson personally reported to Perez that she just found out that she really is pregnant! So, now her fans can really celebrate (or not… they probably don’t want to picture her with a baby bump)!

My First (and Only) Celebrity Book Signing

Me and Robby Benson at his booksigning - July 2007

Me and Robby Benson at his book signing - July 2007

Okay, so this post won’t be the about the most recent event, but I wanted to share my personal story about a special celebrity book signing that I attended last July.  Robby Benson appeared at Vroman’s bookstore in Pasadena, CA, to promote his book “Who Stole the Funny?”

I was especially excited about this event because I have been a fan of Robby Benson’s for years and I was eager to meet him in person.  The event took place upstairs, and while it was not swarming with people, the anticipation to see Robby Benson was palpable.  When Robby finally entered the room, his eyes twinkled and he smiled as if a thousand people had shown up (in actuality, it was more like 30 or 40 people).  Robby read

excerpts from his book, answered questions from the audience, and finally, we had an opportunity to have Robby sign our books and pose with us for pictures.  I made 2 friends while I was waiting in line, and we all agreed that we would take pictures for the other when we posed with Robby.  As I watched Robby Benson interact with his fans, I was all the more impressed.  He was humble, gentle, witty and extremely friendly.  I was the exact opposite when it came to my turn to have him sign my book and pose for pictures.  I was the youngest in the room (besides a teenager who had accompanied his mother) and I think that my age was showing.  I was so nervous, I can’t even remember what I said to him, but he wrote “To K…, With Love, Robby Benson” in my book.  Be still, my beating heart!  I asked if I could take a picture with him, and then I kept saying “thank you.”  How embarrassing!

I’m writing about this now because a)  there may be an avid Robby Benson fan out there who would like to see the picture and hear about my experience and b)  I never blogged about it on my facebook or myspace accounts.
